Emily joined the Your Home Care team at the beginning of 2015. Initially working as a support worker, she was quickly identified as an incredible asset to the team and her role was expanded to also include the activities of a Care Co-ordinator.
Prior to working with Your Home Care, Emily spent five years working with the RSL on their Secure Dementia Program which was a role she relished. With an earlier background as a legal secretary, Emily is incredibly efficient and has an understanding and empathy with clients of all ages and backgrounds.
Emily was diagnosed with AML in March 2016 but that has not slowed her down. She has learnt that life is worth living and that you just have to fight for it. Emily believes that anything is possible and her passion for her family, living life to its fullest and making each day count is an inspiration to us all.
Because of her ability to connect with people, and her ability to get the best out of others Emily was the perfect choice for the Support Worker Training Trainer and Assessor role.
In her role at Support Worker Training Emily will be teaching the classes, attending placements to check on students and assessing their progress. As part of that process Emily hopes to get to know the students and assist, where she can, in placing them in industry roles that are best suited to them.
Emily aims to ensure that people looking for careers in the care industry are well trained, compassionate, mindful, emphatic, strong and versatile – all qualities she believes make a big difference in the carer role.
